Singer

| what I offer
Singer ~ I have been singing professionally for over 30 years. Over the course of my career, I have sung not only folk songs, but also many other styles of music adapted to the folk format. Examples include such pop standards as “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”, “Fever”, and “A Good Man Is Hard To Find”.

Entertainer ~ I am a folksinger who offers musical entertainment in public and private settings. In addition to singing, I establish a rapport with my audiences with information about the music, and personal anecdotes. My music has enhanced weddings, wedding showers, baby showers, dinner parties, and holiday celebrations in community and retirement centers. Many also know my work performing as half of the Reilly and Maloney duo.

Songwriter ~ I am the composer of “Did Beethoven Do The Dishes?’, “He’s A Fool”, “Mrs. Steele’s Song”, “Seattle Afternoon”, and “Wild Man” (once part of Peggy Lee’s repertoire), among many others. I also recorded an entire album of original songs about the experience of motherhood, entitled Doodle Lee Do’in, which features “Baby of Mine” and “Oh My Babies” among its selections.

Testimonials

| the kind words of others

“Ginny, we are still hearing raves about the music – you all did a lovely job.” ~ Joan Carulfel, Horizon House, Seattle Retirement Community Center

“Ginny’s intimate Mother’s Day concert for the re-release of her Doodle Lee Do’in album on CD was such a wonderful experience for both of us! Emotions welled up inside as Ginny sang each song beautifully, taking us back 20 years to when Patty was pregnant with our third child and a friend gave us the cassette tape of Doodle Lee Do’in. These songs meant so much to us then, and they still do! We just want to say “Thank you, Ginny!”" ~ Pat & Patty Anderson, Seattle, WA

“Ginny Reilly has performed in my home on many occasions, including weddings and baby showers, small holiday dinner parties and family reunions. She always had the perfect selection of songs, and left my guests wishing she could sing twice as long!” ~ Pegi DuBois, Seattle, WA

“Ginny Reilly is one of our favorite singers and has performed for us several times in Seattle. Half of the Reilly and Maloney duo, she also performs solo as a seasoned professional and has one of the sweetest voices in folk music.” ~ Stewart Hendrickson, Director, Pacific Northwest Folklore Society, Seattle, WA

“Ginny’s a ‘pro’; over the years she’s honed her singing to fit a wide array of styles, but it’s always her voice inhabiting the songs. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a jazz or pop standard, a Bessie Smith blues, or a simple old folk song, you always know it’s her.” ~ Tom Moran, Musician and Blue Grass Teacher, Shoreline Community College, Seattle, WA

Background

| about me
I am the “Reilly” half of Reilly and Maloney. My partner, David Maloney and I performed on the national circuit of folk music clubs from 1970 to 1990. We owned our own record company, Freckle Records, and recorded several albums on that label. After a 10 year hiatus, we resumed singing together in 2000, and have been performing mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest. We put out the CD Together Again in 2003, and a Brighter Light in 2008.

In addition to 30 years of performing experience, I hold an AAS Degree in Musical Performance from Shoreline Community College (2006).
